Happy Friday! IVe been traveling this week so I haven't had much time to post. Today I wanted to share a few photos from our community garden work day last weekend. My family came to help out and it was so special working in the garden with them! Check out the before and after photos - I was amazed at how much we accomplished in just a few hours. Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

I'm excited to post my four simple goals for June today. I've been really enjoying setting these goals each month, and I've been learning about the best ways for me to approach goal setting. If you've been following my progress with this feature this year, you may have noticed that I really only check off about half my goal (two of four) each month. Four months in I've realized its because I can have unrealistic expectations about what I can get done in a thirty day time period. So for June I'm making goals that are actually simple - and hopefully easier to accomplish in one month. 1. Travel healthy: I'm traveling a couple of times and this month, and I don't want to slack off on some of the healthy habits I've started just because I'm not at home. My hope is to drink lots of water, to exercise and walk, and to make good food choices.
2. Plan garden recipes: It's almost time to start harvesting veggies from the garden and for our CSA deliveries to begin. I'd like to gather some go to recipes so that I'm ready for the veggies when they start coming in. I've noticed that if I don't have ideas for how to cook something, it sits in the back of my fridge until I forget about it and it goes bad. I'd prefer not to waste delicious, nutritious vegetables that I or others worked hard to grow. 3. Upload photos: This goal is an example of me taking baby steps to achieve a bigger goal. I haven't managed to make a wedding or Europe photo album yet, but I think I can at last upload the photos I want to use onto a website so that I can then design and later order my album in a few months. 4. Be present: I've been thinking a lot about the future lately, and I've observed an increase in my anxiety levels happening at the same time. I don't like feeling anxious (does anybody?), so I'm going to make a conscious effort to stop, breathe, and be in the moment. Because what better time is there to be present when the sun is shining, the weather is beautiful, and there are so many wonderful things going on? What are your goals for June? the return - and stay - of warm weather an excellent east coast vacation visiting, dancing, and laughing with old friends spending time with my family in Milwaukee working with my mom, dad, and brother in the community garden gifted tomato plants a beet salad from my mom's St. Louis garden watching the sun go down from our porch enjoying a fried fish sandwich that reminded me of my grandpa walking around the Port Washington harbor shopping for plants and coffee in Cedarburg with my mom looking forward to another great week Happy Monday! What are you thankful for today?

Thanks May - you were fantastic. Here's my check in for my May goals.
1. Ride my bike: I realized I was getting to the end of the month and hadn't ridden anywhere yet so I road my bike to the end of the driveway and back to my garage. Don't judge. I'm counting it. 2. Create a food budget: We took some great steps towards getting our food spending and usage in check. We cooked a few more meals, wasted a little less, made better trips to the grocery store. And now we'll have a good month of spending to base our future food budget amount on. Woot! 3. Make a photo album: Welll...I didn't do this but I learned a valuable lesson: I do much better with my goals when I break them down into more easily completable steps. I picked a lot of the photos I wanted for my wedding album, but I just didn't have the energy to make a whole album. So I plan on continuing to break this process down so that hopefully - in a few months - I'll have a wedding album in my hands :) 4. Miles challenge: I finished all 30 skating miles and my 30 walking/running miles! My family is planning on doing the miles challenge again for June. The proposal: we need to at least what we did for May or add to it. Bring it on! |
