1. Meet with a nutritionist: Accomplished!! I met with a nutritionist and gained some good skills to build a healthier diet for myself. I'm hoping to put some of these skills to better use in 2013.
2. Exercise once a week: My goal had been to really exercise once a week by getting my heart pumping and my body sweating. I'm embarrassed to say that I only think I did this about 1-2 times in the past four months, BUT I did take Pedro on long walks and took lots of walks during my lunch break at work. So though I didn't technically reach it, I think I accomplished the spirit of this goal.
3. Finish four paintings: This one was the only true fail on the goals list. I did start a painting and am actually close to finishing it, so I'm still better off than I've been all year with my goal to paint more. I'm hoping more painting will happen in 2013.
4. Meet with a spiritual director: Done!! This is the goal I feel proudest of accomplishing. I had been wanting to meet with a spiritual-counseling type mentor for a while, and making this list finally gave me the kick in the butt I needed to get the ball rolling. My ongoing meetings with my counselor have been so rewarding and such a source of joy. I am VERY happy I took care of this.
So in summary, I met about 3/4 of my goals. My approach to goal making is to remember that I'm still better off at the end accomplishing only half of my goals than I would have been if I hadn't made any goals at all. Even when I don't get 100%, my life is still richer and fuller at the end.
This recap has inspired me to write a few goals for 2013. Look for my goals list next week!
